During the December 9th Board Work Session, District administrators shared the culmination of five months of work that has resulted in a Portrait of a Graduate. Since July, the District has been seeking input from students, staff, families and community members to collaboratively create a collective vision of the skills, traits, and characteristics each student should obtain prior to graduation. The information collected was synthesized to create the Portrait of a Graduate, which identifies five key categories that make up the graduate profile.
- Academic Achievers perform at high levels in their studies and demonstrate a commitment to learning.
- Communicators and Connectors effectively communicate and collaborate with others, showing teamwork and empathy.
- Personal Architects take responsibility for their actions and choices, actively pursuing personal growth with a vision for their own successes.
- Leaders and Teammates exhibit the qualities to lead and inspire others, as well as work collaboratively.
- Empowered Navigators develop and sharpen practical skills to journey through everyday life.
“Creation of the Green Bay Area Public School District’s Portrait of a Graduate in collaboration with our community provides the foundation or inspiration for the work the Board will undertake in developing a strategic plan for the next 3-5 years,” Associate Superintendent of Continuous Improvement David Johns stated. “Knowing what our community’s vision and expectations are of a District graduate enables the Board to develop measurable goals, which support all graduates embodying the skills, characteristics and traits identified in the graduate profile. The Portrait of a Graduate provides the Board, District leadership, and staff that north star, and now we focus on developing the roadmap to get there. It is an exciting time to be in the Green Bay Area Public School District.”
